Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect information from visitors to nwos.com.
Last updated: April 26, 2026
Who we are
Northwest Open Source ("NWOS", "we", "our") is a Seattle-based technology firm operating the website at nwos.com. This policy describes what we collect from visitors, why, and your rights regarding that information.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you submit our contact form, we collect: name, email address, company name (optional), area of interest (optional), industry (optional), and your message. We also record the IP address from which the form was submitted.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies for analytics. Specifically, we use Google Analytics 4, which records aggregated, pseudonymized information about your visit (pages viewed, time on page, approximate geographic region, browser type, referrer). We do not collect personally identifying information through analytics.
How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry and follow up on potential engagements
- To understand how visitors use the site and improve content
- To detect and prevent abuse (spam, automated submissions)
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share contact form submissions with third parties for marketing purposes.
Service providers
We use a small set of third-party services to operate the site. These providers process information on our behalf:
- Google Analytics — anonymized site analytics
- Brevo — transactional email delivery (notifications and confirmations from the contact form)
- Our hosting provider — server infrastructure and security
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics (via Google Analytics) and to maintain session state for visitors who interact with the contact form. You can disable cookies in your browser; the site will still function, but analytics will not record your visit.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email support@nwos.com from the address you provided. We respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
European Economic Area visitors (GDPR): our lawful basis for processing contact form data is your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry. For analytics, our basis is legitimate interest in understanding site usage.
Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained indefinitely as a record of communication, unless you request deletion. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default retention (currently 14 months for event-level data).
Security
We use HTTPS site-wide, store contact submissions in an access-controlled database, and follow reasonable measures to protect against unauthorized access. No system is perfect; if you believe your information has been exposed, contact us immediately.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for businesses and adult professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
